Senior Financial Analyst-FP&A Manager
ABOUT THE COMPANY: This company is an incubator company in the South Bay Area.
LOCATION: South Bay Area. The team is in the office 5 days per week. There is a strong preference for this person to be in the office each day as they value interacting closely with each other and portco leaders. They are open to discussing 3-4 days in the office if a candidate warrants it.
The role: This person will report directly to the CFO and work closely with CEOs of their portfolio companies in order to provide better insights into how their companies are performing. Projects will include monthly cash flow forecasting and spend management analysis with portco CEOs, quarterly BOD meeting support, annual operating plans, and ad hoc projects such as assisting with fundraising, modeling for potential acquisitions, and other projects as needed.
This candidate needs to know Excel and be able to handle large data sets and slice and dice this data. Strong communication skills are also important as this person will be interacting with portfolio company CEOs frequently. This person should also be a proactive business partner who is comfortable working hand-in-hand and presenting to leaders, having lunch with cross-functional partners, etc.

Responsibilities, Skills & Hands-On Experience
Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning for individual startups and the overall portfolio.
Analyze financial performance, variance analysis, and key metrics to identify trends, opportunities, and risks.
Provide insights and recommendations to optimize resource allocation.
Prepare financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for internal use.
Partner with executive leadership and startup teams to provide analysis for evaluating strategic initiatives, investment opportunities, and business expansion plans.
Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance data accuracy, and improve reporting efficiency.
Implement best practices in financial modeling, analysis, and reporting to drive operational excellence and scalability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate financial systems, tools, and processes to support the evolving needs of the organization.
Education & Work Experience
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or MBA with financial emphasis.
3-8 years of experience in corporate financial analysis and financial reporting
Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis, with a complete understanding of all aspects of corporate financial statements.
Advanced Excel skills.
Understanding of accounting systems for reporting, answering queries, data retrieval, etc.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Proven ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and contribute to a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
COMPENSATION:
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure: $125K - $180K + equity in each portfolio company.
