Responsibilities :
- Involves the provision of patient-level financial and clinical data and analysis to inform the medical center or health system's operational, financial and strategic decision making. Includes the development of a case-based operating budget for patient volume, detailed utilization projections and gross revenue. Oversees the service line profitability reporting, the cost accounting system, and the decision support system integration of clinical and financial data in a patient-centric repository. Provides for the measurement and benchmarking of business operations in relation to best business practices for the healthcare industry and internal business objectives.
- Develops highly complex queries and may take the lead on producing regular analyses and investigations of performance, utilization, clinical programs and financial analyses.
Regularly leads projects and / or serves as an expert on teams involved with business development planning, budget, and other systemwide projects - Delivers consistently reliable and valid highly-complex financial and statistical information in the development operating budgets, including making recommendations to management to improve the budget-development process. Collaborates with key personnel across departments to explain variances and to identify and resolve financial or procedural problems.
- Establishes new metrics, systems, and processes to improve the value of decision support activities and efficiencies.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or a directly related field.
- A minimum of 10 years of work experience in hospital or physician group finance, health insurance, health care consulting, or a related industry is required
- Expert understanding of decision support systems, with knowledge of business statistics, quantitative methods, relational databases, business development scorecards, data modeling, and performance and profitability analysis.
- Expert knowledge of issues and aspects of clinical finance, planning, financial data management, budget development, and business development. Strong proficiency in utilizing the tools to produce comprehensive, studies and actionable intelligence.
- Advanced data management and mining skills including ability to develop and execute highly complex SQL queries and stored procedures to organize, transform and extract financial and clinical data for production of relevant, meaningful reports, statistics, analyses and forecasts.
- A strong understanding of cost accounting concepts, as well as financial modeling techniques such as discounted cash flow/net present value and internal return on investment is required.
Preferred Skills:
- EPSI cost accounting system or other hospital cost accounting system experience is highly desirable.
