Responsibilities / Position overview:We are seeking an experienced finance professional to join our global finance operations team as a Senior Finance Operations Manager. This role is responsible for supporting continuous improvement of finance operations by enhancing the efficiency and standardization of financial processes, and use financial insight to drive strategic decision-making. The role requires a commercial mindset and will work closely with business units globally with a focus on financial performance, project accounting, project profitability and driving ongoing margin enhancement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with business leads enabling them to understand and act on financial insights
- Ensuring accurate project set-up across ERP system
- Lead monthly project reviews to understand project progress and performance
- Ensure the completion and accuracy of accounting and financial processing such as month-end revenue recognition and contract asset and liability balances
- Ensure project contract asset and contract liability balances are fairly stated at each month end
- Development of revenue and cost of sales forecasts and budgets and track performance
- Maintenance of capacity models to understand revenue delivery potential
- Analyze and interpret backlog and pipeline relative to existing and projected capacity
- Support the production of monthly reporting and business review information as needed
- Ongoing development of analytics and insights to drive improved business understanding
- Support Project Health Check process through the development and delivery of project profitability and project overrun analyses
- Assisting with company inter-company revenue and cost recharges where required
- Support development and maintenance of charge-out rates, cost per hour and target margin levels
- Support commercial and technical teams with project cancellations through the provision of project data (% completion, time spent, amounts invoiced and paid)
The education, experience, and skills required to be successful in this role include:
- 5+ years of senior level accounting or finance experience in a midsized professional services organization
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Advanced level of proficiency in Excel with excellent analytical and technical skills
- Experience using and proficiency in financial systems (NetSuite experience is a plus)
- Experience in revenue recognition and contract interpretation
- Commercial mindset with the ability translate financial information into actionable recommendations
- High attention to details
- Deadline driven and ability to operate in a fast paced and evolving environment; proactive with positive approach to teamwork
