The Sr Finance Manager/ Site Controller will lead and manage Financial Planning & Analysis initiatives primarily focused on HR budgeting and forecasting of staff costs, for business units across the Finance Division in North America. The Sr Finance Manager/ Site Controller will build financial plans and provide actionable insights to key stakeholders, via informed decision-making using people data, to support short and long-term growth of the business and will be a highly visible partner to Senior Leadership and Department/Functional leaders providing financial strength and controls.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage day to day operations of the Quantum MRO and Logistics Software system
- Manage and lead the Accounting and Finance team
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including the loading of HFM (Hyperion Financial Management) and transmission to corporate by required due dates
- Manage general ledger accounting and ensure accounting practices and procedures are in compliance with US GAAP and company policies and procedures (journal entries, BS account reconciliations, inter-company activity reconciliation, etc)
- Responsible for analyzing financial results
- Manage the analysis of inventory (roll forwards, product lines, engine acquisitions, reserves, etc.)
- Assist product line managers with inventory initiatives, lot inventory management, and monthly/quarterly inventory reviews with management.
- Manage internal and external auditors during periodic financial audits
- Prepare financial forecasts and yearly budgets
- Analyze key performance indicators to identify underlying business issues and provide input for operational decisions
- Lead special projects central to improving analytical tools, internal business processes, and overall management decision processes
- Participate in developing monthly operations review, bench marking studies, and various management presentations
- Make recommendations regarding cost saving or profit generating opportunities across the organization
- Apply knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting best practices and technologies to develop tools and modify existing systems and processes to enhance the close process
- Implement critical initiatives and projects including centralized accounting practices, system implementations and modifications that ensure accurate and reliable reporting
- Effectively plan and execute on key projects including coordination with financial reporting, accounting and other cross-functional partners as required
- Manage and supervise, hire, terminate, promote, train and develop team members
Skills:
- Extensive experience with complex inventory and control systems
- 4 + years of previous management experience building and developing talent
- Ability to work independently, and proactively to develop solutions with minimal guidance
- Extensive computer experience including MS Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office products, database, etc., Quantum and/or EPICOR experience a plus
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to use sound judgment and challenge assumptions when appropriate
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial and accounting concepts, techniques, and regulatory requirements
- Proven flexibility and ability to cope with pressure resulting from changing priorities and meeting tight deadlines and reporting requirements
- A relentless and versatile learner who is open to change and enjoys the challenge of unfamiliar tasks
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of systems, financial, and operational processes
Education:
- BA / BS degree in Finance or Accounting
- MBA and/or CPA preferred
Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience including at least 2 years in a manufacturing, preferably aerospace or similar environment
