We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented Permanent Senior Field Safety Representative to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring our construction projects are carried out in strict compliance with safety standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of Cal-OSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations, and a strong background in construction safety. This role requires extensive fieldwork, including conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and implementing preventative safety measures.
Responsibilities:
1. Conduct regular site safety inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including Cal-OSHA, OSHA, and DOT.
2. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
3. Develop, implement, and maintain the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) in accordance with regulatory requirements.
4. Train and mentor site personnel on safety protocols, practices, and procedures to foster a culture of safety awareness and compliance.
5. Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, including liaising with regulatory agencies, internal stakeholders, and external contractors.
6. Continually assess potential hazards and develop strategies to eliminate or mitigate risks.
7. Prepare and present safety performance reports to management, identifying trends and proposing improvements.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of Cal-OSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations.
3. Proven experience in conducting safety inspections and investigations.
4. Strong understanding of the principles and practices of injury and illness prevention.
5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively train and mentor others.
6. Exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
7. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
8. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
9. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is a plus.
