Senior Estimator - JARBO

Summary of the Opportunity:

JARBO Employment Group is currently assisting a client of ours that specializes in high-quality asphalt paving and resurfacing solutions for residential, commercial, and municipal clients. From intricate driveways to infrastructure projects, they are committed to excellence, precision, and lasting relationships with their clients. They are seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team, providing strategic insights and ensuring the accuracy of bids to support business growth and project success.

Responsibilities of the Senior Estimator:

• Review project plans and specifications, preparing takeoffs and pricing all aspects of the project to ensure comprehensive cost estimates.
• Price takeoffs produced by other estimators, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all bids.
• Accumulate, manage, and evaluate historical cost data to improve the accuracy of future estimates.

• Develop and cultivate strong business relationships with key clients to foster long-term partnerships.
• Support business development by providing and presenting credible recommendations to clients on project budgets and design.
• Develop and implement competitive bidding strategies to increase the chances of securing profitable work.
• Review specifications and drawings to determine potential scopes of work and align them with project requirements.
• Manage multiple estimates simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising accuracy.
• Monitor potential prospects and leads to identify new business opportunities.
• Manage and increase leads by market, contributing to business growth and client acquisition.
• Assist in strategies related to pre-construction processes and growth strategies to expand the company’s footprint.
• Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to secure favorable terms.
• Lead others by hiring, training, and coaching team members, fostering a high-performance estimating team.
• Follow up on leads and proposals to maintain client engagement and ensure timely responses.

Qualifications and Skills of the Senior Estimator:

• 8+ years of construction estimating experience, ideally with a focus on asphalt paving or similarly flatwork projects.
• Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks with attention to detail.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to engage with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid, B2W Estimate, HCSS).
• Proven experience negotiating contracts with a track record of securing work outside the competitive bid market.
• Familiarity with asphalt materials, paving operations, and industry standards to ensure accurate estimates and smooth project execution.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and tight deadlines without compromising quality or thoroughness.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify risks and opportunities during the bidding process.
• Ability to travel to project sites as needed for site assessments and client meetings.
