About the Job
We’re seeking a skilled Senior Estimator with a strong grasp of construction industry standards and estimating processes. This role involves collaborating with the estimating team and leadership to reach strategic estimating goals. Ideal candidates bring hands-on experience in Heavy Civil, DOT/Municipal projects, Concrete Paving, Earthworks, Underground Utilities, and Structures for both public and private sectors.
What You’ll Do:
- Bid Monitoring & Project Selection: Regularly review industry bid publications and client requests, selecting potential projects for team review and consideration.
- Project Scope and Review: Coordinate with the estimating team to review project plans, specifications, general conditions, schedules, and scope to ensure complete coverage.
- Cost Estimation and Quantity Take-Offs: Perform or support take-off calculations, prepare pricing reports, and maintain digital records for internal budgets and presentations.
- Collaborate on Final Estimates: Work closely with the team to refine estimates through all project stages, from concept to construction, supporting scope reviews, subcontractor evaluation, and cost analysis.
- Executive-Level Input: Present final estimates to leadership, ensuring all decisions are aligned with project goals, and participate in key meetings.
- Job Cost Monitoring: Once projects are underway, assist in tracking job costs and visit sites as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with industry trends by participating in workshops, reading professional publications, and networking in the field.
- Revenue & Cost Forecasting: Collaborate with field and project managers to prepare monthly revenue and cost forecasts.
- Problem Solving & Initiative: Address any challenges that arise in estimating or on projects with independence and initiative.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Industry Knowledge: Experience with both public and private projects, including Heavy Civil, DOT/Municipal, Concrete Paving, Earthworks, Underground Utilities, and Structures.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft programs, Bluebeam, Adobe, and HCSS (Heavy Bid); familiarity with AutoCAD, Agtek, or MicroStation is a plus.
- Compliance and Safety: Adherence to OSHA standards and all company safety guidelines.
- Work Environment: Office-based with standard hours, focused on organizing and completing work within given deadlines.
