Senior Estimator
Brothers Group Construction Company is currently looking to speak with interested Senior Estimating candidates to join it's Jacksonville Office. The purpose of a Brothers Group Construction Senior Estimator is to ensure that projects are set up properly to be executed to the highest standards on all varieties of projects. Tasks and work need to be completed accurately and on a timely basis to ensure the project is set up for success. This will be accomplished by personal workload and executing the project strategy established by the project team. This role will work under the guidance of the Director of Estimating.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and is responsible for all estimating functions that may be required during preconstruction
- Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of the work product of the Estimating Department
- Additional experience in project engineering, field supervision or purchasing required
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices
- Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/ architect requirements
- Should demonstrate imaginative, innovative and succinct approach to a project
- Excellent leadership, verbal and written skills required
- Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs and Brothers Group Construction Estimating Software
- Complete knowledge of the estimating documents and ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents
- Work in partnership with the project manager to plan the job prior to project initiation i.e. general conditions study, procurement schedule, logistics, etc
- Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy this throughout the estimating process
- Ensure that the information required to begin the estimating process is accurate and available
- Establish the pre-construction budget and manage the associated funds
- Ensures that the best bids are obtained for each trade, based on the needs of the project
- Structure a fair and comprehensive final sub bid process by incorporating all information from previous budgets, by educating all subs, including, but not limited to detailed written scope of work, logistics, etc., so that they are all bidding on the same work
- Present information and proposals effectively to clients based on their needs and preferences
- Serve as mentor and coach to estimators and assistant estimators
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management, building construction or similar and a minimum of ten years of estimating experience or an equivalent combination of education, training experience
- Vast knowledge of all trades: scope, time frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge about estimating processes and delivery methods
- Understand MEP systems and components, and be able to scope and analyze MEP bids
- Solid conceptual estimating experience
- Management experience: coaching, feedback delivery, delegating and mentorship
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills
- Knowledge of contract types and deal structures
- Candidate is expected to live a commutable distance to our Jacksonville based office.

- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and able to communicate to a wide variety of people
- Strong organizational skills
- Superior analytical aptitude
- Self-starting and driven
- Must be honest and prepared to work in a team environment
- Proficient in MS Suite, specifically MS Word and MS Excel
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to lift, push and pull a minimum of 20lbs
- Flexibility in days and hours worked
- Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations
- Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally
- Computer literacy
- Valid Driver’s License
