SUMMARY
Manages and oversees direction of the Toolroom and Engineering business and staff by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage toolroom and engineering staff.
- Determine customer mold and tooling requirements.
- Quote tooling.
- Manage DFM (design for manufacture).
- Oversee design and mold building on site and outsourced.
- Debug tooling for production.
- Find and secure potential customers.
- Visit current customers to develop lasting relationships.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage approximately five staff.
- Must be able to effectively handle interpersonal communication between peers and subordinates with strong personalities.
- Responsible for the overall directions, coordination, and evaluation of this department.
- Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws.
- Additional responsibilities include interviewing and training, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees with the assistance of HR, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10-15 years of proven tooling and design experience.
- 5+ years leading a team.
- Fluency with Solid Works, Split Works, Power Mill, Feature Cam or similar 3D CAD tools and FEA software.
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing and tooling techniques/capabilities (CNC machining, injection molding, mold design, etc).
- Experience in interactions with customers and vendors to develop business relationships.
