About the Job
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineering Drafting Technician to join their team. This is a direct hire role, offering the opportunity to work independently on engineering design plans for public works projects and land development using AutoCAD software. The ideal candidate will collaborate with an engineering design team from initial concepts to final plan production and may supervise 1-2 direct reports.
Responsibilities:
Technical
- Execute tasks assigned by the Project Lead and engineering team.
- Develop civil plan sets (grading, drainage, and paving) from sketches using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D grading feature lines, terrain models, earthworks, corridors, labels, etc.
- Manage utility pipe networks and modify utility structures in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Determine scales, layouts, and necessary details for project drawings.
- Prepare drawings in compliance with company CAD standards and project-specific CAD specifications.
- Manage personal time effectively to meet project obligations, including budget, quality, and schedule.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- 10+ years of experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, civil engineering, and/or land development projects.
- General computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, Adobe, Internet, etc.).
- Knowledge of CAD Manuals/Standards.
- Proficient in troubleshooting AutoCAD Civil 3D issues.
- Proficient in Bluebeam.

- Detailed understanding of Civil Engineering.
- Comprehensive knowledge of topographic and boundary surveys.
- Ability to interpret and develop detailed drawings from sketches and mark-ups provided by engineers.
- Perform basic calculations related to engineering drawings, including areas, lengths, distances, line and curve tables, elevations, datum conversions, coordinate systems, slopes, grades, and volumes.
Physical Requirements and/or Working Conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting (up to 8 hours a day for office staff).
- Interaction with technology (computer, cellphone, etc.).
- Ability to lift and/or carry items (up to 20 lbs.).
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking (field checks).
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (field checks).
- Occasional travel (driving to offices, jobsites, client meetings, etc.).
