Senior Engineer - Cardinal Engineering LLC

Cardinal Engineering is currently seeking an engineer to provide Digital, Network, Cyber (DNC) engineering support to the Aircraft Carrier Design and Systems Engineering Directorate (SEA 05V) at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA). Successful candidates will participate in the DNC Group in SEA 05V and solve challenging problems related to DNC systems installed onboard NIMITZ (CVN 68) and FORD (CVN 78) Class aircraft carriers. Successful candidates will coordinate with Engineering Agents, Technical Authorities, TYCOM, PMS 312, PMS 378, SUPSHIP Newport News, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Ship Repair Facility (SRF), and other activities to resolve technical matters. Responsibilities include providing technical support and assessing risk for technical decisions for CVN 68 and CVN 78 Class Ship Design Managers (SDMs) and the System Engineering Manager (SEM).

Engineering degree with 7+ years of experience with one or more of the following Ship Control Systems (SCS) is required: 

• Machinery Control and Monitoring System (MCMS) / Machinery Control System (MCS) or similar
• Machinery Control network systems and related infrastructure 
• Steering Gear Control Systems 
• Voice/Video over IP related systems 
• Navigation 
• Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems 
• Damage Control software applications.

Experience with a shipyard, Naval Surface/Undersea Warfare Center (NSWC/NUWC), Supervisor of Shipbuilding Command (SUPSHIP), Regional Maintenance Center (RMC), Type Commander (TYCOM), SEA 05, SEA 08 or ship program office (in an engineering role) is a plus. Candidate should have excellent project management and communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to work well with minimal supervision. Ideal candidate has prior carrier, submarine or surface ship (Navy or Coast Guard) system engineering experience. 

Candidates will be based out of the Washington Navy Yard with part-time telework. Occasional travel will be required in execution of assigned duties. Must be a US Citizen and currently possess a SECRET security clearance.
