Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Electrical/Power Engineer to join our team at the Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit based in Davenport, IA.
Our client, established in 1948, has been a leader in American manufacturing. Situated along the Mississippi River, the plant employs 2,400 individuals and plays a significant role in the global aluminum industry. With a quarter of its revenues generated from exports, Davenport has remained at the forefront through continuous modernization, including a recent $500 million investment. Today, it stands as the primary aerospace supply plant, contributing to our company's $3 billion aerospace business.
Responsibilities
• The Senior Electrical/Power Engineer will lead and manage projects involving engineering, design, procurement, construction, and implementation of systems and equipment, with a focus on energy efficiency and electrical distribution. Key responsibilities include:
• Developing innovative solutions to enhance energy efficiency in alignment with DPW energy reduction metrics.
• Executing projects to enhance reliability and mitigate risks in the plant's electrical distribution network.
• Managing project budgets and timelines, ensuring adherence to commitments and formal project closure.
• Additional responsibilities include:
• Managing capital projects exceeding $1MM in value, from approval to completion.
• Ensuring project compliance with engineering standards derived from NEC/NFPA/IEEE.
• Directing activities during field construction and resolving operational issues during electrical power outages.
• Providing leadership and technical support for major capital projects affecting energy efficiency or distribution network.
• Identifying energy efficiency projects and collaborating with local power companies for rebates.
• Overseeing arc flash and short circuit studies, addressing issues through appropriate measures.
• This position primarily operates on the first shift; however, flexibility for off-shift hours and weekends may be required to support 24/7 manufacturing operations.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of project management experience, with proficiency in scope definition and technical designs.
• Fundamental understanding of medium voltage power distribution.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• 10 years or more experience in manufacturing.
• 7 years or more experience in executing power distribution projects.
• 2 years or more experience in interpreting power modeling software, including arc flash and short circuit studies.
• Technical expertise in various power systems and devices, including switchgear, MCC's, transformers, etc.
