Summary
United Engineers and Constructors is actively seeking a Senior Electrical / I&C Engineer in Charlotte, NC with 8-12+ years of experience, who will be responsible for a variety of engineering modification projects for nuclear generating stations.
Candidate will be part of a team of Electrical and Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineers supporting our growing work for the Nuclear Industry. Performed under the direct supervision of a Supervising Discipline or Lead Engineer
Requirements
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Controls Engineering from an accredited 4-year university with course work in Control Systems.
8-12+ years overall experience in design of control systems for power plants or heavy industrial facilities.
3 years of experience in I&C design for nuclear plants in North America including new plants or modification of existing operating plants.
For new generation plants: Development of control system architecture and design basis documents
For modifications to operating nuclear plants: Familiarity with the nuclear standard design process, and experience preparing engineering drawings including but not limited to wiring diagrams and schematics, P&IDs, logic diagrams, instrument hookups, etc. for plant modification packages including digital upgrades.
Preparation of specifications for control systems for plant process/auxiliary systems.
Preparation and review of logic diagrams and system functional descriptions for implementation of system control logic into plant control systems.
Experience evaluating and specifying pressure, temperature, flow, and level process instrumentation.
Experience performing calculations for a nuclear plant such as instrument set-points.
Familiarity with IEEE, EPRI, ISA and IAEA Codes and Standards and NRC Reg Guides relating to nuclear plant licensing and design.
Good written and oral communication skills. Must be able to interface with other members of the project team including other disciplines, client, contractors and vendors.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Expertise using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Teams.
Must be a Citizen of the U.S. or Canada and able to obtain unescorted access to a U.S. Nuclear Power Plant.
Preferred Requirements:
Professional engineering (PE) License in any state in the U.S. with ability to obtain licensure in other states by comity.
2 years of design experience for new nuclear generating stations.
Experience with Digital Upgrades at operating nuclear plants.
Familiarity with NEI 08-09 and experience with performing cyber-security assessments.
Experience with NUREG 0800, Chapters 7, 8 and 18.
Experience with Human Factors Engineering.
