Our client is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with expertise in power electronics hardware design, control systems, and DSP/FPGA integration. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, testing, and implementation of advanced power systems, including cutting-edge power electronic converters and digital control platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Spearhead the design, simulation, and testing of SiC-based power electronic converters, including active rectifiers, isolated DC-DC converters, solid-state transformers, and high-speed motor drives.
- Architect and optimize DSP-based digital control algorithms, FPGA modulator designs, and PLC-level system controllers.
- Deliver cutting-edge PCB designs, integrating SiC gate drivers, high-speed A/D converters, and communication protocols such as CAN, RS485, Modbus, and high-speed fiber optics.
- Innovate and implement embedded systems software for harmonic compensators, PLLs, and advanced control algorithms.
- Develop robust Controller-Hardware-in-the-Loop (C-HIL) platforms for comprehensive power system validation and testing.
- Contribute to the design and integration of medium-voltage power distribution systems, modular multi-level converters, and scalable solutions for MW-level applications.
- Author and review technical whitepapers, patents, and research articles to showcase technical leadership.
- Create and issue production-ready schematics and electrical drawings for prototype and production systems.
- Required:
- U.S. Citizenship (required under ITAR restrictions).
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (minimum 3.3 GPA). Master’s or PhD preferred.
- Ability to secure a DoD Security Clearance.
- Preferred Expertise:
- Designing and controlling motor drives, AC-DC and DC-AC power converters, and power inverters.
- Developing high-speed, high-performance FPGA systems and working with platforms such as TI C2000 DSPs and Altera FPGAs.
- Experience with real-time simulation tools, including OPAL-RT, Typhoon, or other HIL platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of SiC-based power devices, isolated DC-DC systems, and multi-level converter technologies.
- Develop next-generation SiC and Silicon-based power converters for energy-efficient applications.
- Design medium-voltage isolated DC-DC converters and their integration into scalable power systems.
- Advance DSP and FPGA control systems for AC-DC and DC-DC power electronics.
- Drive innovation in modular, scalable power systems ranging from 50kW to multi-MW output.
- Build HIL environments using tools like Typhoon and PLECS for real-time testing and validation.
- Collaborate on mission-critical applications for military vehicles, aircraft power systems, and naval infrastructure.
