Job Description
Now is a great time to join our Danfoss Team in Plymouth, MN! We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our New Product Development (NPD) team. This position is required to use engineering principles and advanced problem-solving skills to design and evaluate electronic assemblies for use in off road automotive applications. The senior EE is responsible for creating schematics, laying out PCB’s, following good design practices and agreed upon procedures, and verification of the design. This role must have detailed knowledge of all aspects of a product cycle, including marketing, finance, customer service and production. Advanced informal leadership skills are also essential in this position as a Senior EE is expected to train and mentor other engineers. This position is part of the CCS (Connect & Control Solutions) Business Unit.
Job Responsibilities
+ Perform schematic design using engineering principles and advanced math concepts.
+ Create PCB layouts with a complete understanding of the impact of traces, vias, planes, layers and component placement.
+ Troubleshooting and bench testing of electrical hardware.
+ Demonstrate advanced engineering skills with regards to electrical design, analysis and problem solving.
+ Utilize advanced project management skills.
+ Understand test plans and document test results using basic word processing and spreadsheet software.
+ Serve as a ‘local expert’ in electrical engineering for assigned projects.
+ Train new engineers, associate engineers, and interns.
+ Teach Danfoss engineering fundamentals and familiarize team members with current practices.
+ Demonstrate a commitment to maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area.
+ Follow safety regulations and actively contribute to work safety.
+ Continue education to increase awareness of new technology in the changing electronics field.
+ Respond with commitment and sensitivity to satisfy the needs of internal and external customers.
+ Promote quality and continuous improvement philosophy.
Background & Skills
+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
+ 5+ years of related experience.
+ Apply advanced mathematical concepts such as algebra, calculus, probability and statistics, geometry and trigonometry.
+ Familiar with ECAD tools and mechanical CAD tools. Experience with Altium Designer, NX, and LabVIEW is a plus.
+ Read and understand mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and PCB layout drawings.
+ Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or graphical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
+ Utilize basic knowledge of the following equipment: digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, PC data acquisition hardware, inspection equipment, signal generators, power supplies, RF equipment and current probes.
+ Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
+ Perform basic soldering and PCBA modifications.
+ Effectively present information to development engineers, production operators, management teams and public groups.
+ Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
+ Demonstrate good problem solving, communication and leadership skills.
+ Demonstrate flexibility in approach and ideas.
+ Respond positively and support changes in procedures, process, technology, responsibility, and assignments.
+ Demonstrate advanced interpersonal skills.
+ Serve as a role model for and be supportive of other team members.
