System One is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer on a 4 month contract to hire position located in Bakersfield, CA.
Electrical Engineer Responsibilities:
- Working on Utility and Oil & Gas projects.
- Performs complex engineering tasks and difficult engineering work efficiently and accurately.
- Extract engineering information from CAD drawings. Prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys and designs.
- Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
- Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses.
- Prepares and issues specifications, datasheets and other construction documents.
- provides technical guidance to CAD Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.
- May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations and ordinances.
- may act in an advisory capacity to senior management personnel on engineering related matters.
Electrical Engineer Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering an 8+ years of related work experience.
- Active Professional Engineer registration in California is required or ability to obtain in 3 months.
- Proficiency in utilizing software packages typically associated with Electrical Engineering is required.
- Experience in low voltage and medium voltage heavy industrial design, substation design, transmission, and distribution line design, and ETAP modeling required.
- Working knowledge of applicable Industry Codes and Standards (e.g. NEC, ASME, ANSI, ISA, ASHRAE, IEEE, ASTM, NFPA).
- Experience working with 480V and up.
- Ability to wok both independently and as a member of a team of engineers and designers on multiple, concurrently executed projects.
- Good organizational and communication skills. Expresses ideas concisely and clearly, both orally and in writing.
- Accepts responsibility for own actions and honors commitments.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client offices, other company offices and project sites for meetings, performing inspections and walk-downs, and to assist field personnel and construction team with Electrical technical issues.
- Proficient in the use of office personal computers, office networks, and Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- US Citizenship is required.
