Summary
DivCore is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director of People Operations to ensure that all HR functions are executed efficiently. The Senior Director will serve as a key partner to the Chief People Officer on core HR matters (i.e., benefits, compliance, compensation, recruiting, onboarding, employee relations) while also managing a team, streamlining internal department operations, and overseeing the company’s DEI efforts. This role requires a deep knowledge of all aspects of human resources, the ability to execute HR initiatives that support organizational growth, and a commitment to building a high-performing team.
This position will report directly to the Chief People Officer (CPO) and oversee a Recruiter who handles the entire recruiting process in addition to new hire onboarding, and an Associate Director who manages payroll, benefits, DEI, and compliance. The People Operations team also includes an Administrative Assistant focused on project execution and executive assistant functions (for the CPO), and an Associate responsible for performance management, offboarding, and special projects, including process documentation.
This role requires a minimum of 3 days per week in our San Francisco HQ office.
The ideal candidate will be a highly skilled manager with exceptional organizational abilities, adept at coordinating tasks and leading people effectively. This role requires a leader who can manage and develop a diverse team, streamline HR processes, and ensure that the department operates smoothly. A background in private equity, particularly with experience in real estate debt and equity capital investments is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
Department Oversight:
- Ensure the efficient management of the HR department, optimizing processes and leveraging innovative technology solutions to enhance departmental efficiency and organization.
- Oversee and ensure the efficient management of HR processes including recruiting, onboarding, payroll, annual compensation, compliance, and employee relations. Conduct industry benchmarking and implement best practices to continuously improve these processes.
- Partner with the CPO to create and manage the department budget (including payroll and benefits) and conduct reforecasts as necessary.
- Bring a process-oriented approach to identify and implement scalable solutions that will improve departmental efficacy and ongoing adaptability.
Team Management & Development:
- Oversee and mentor the HR team, ensuring effective operations across key areas including recruiting, benefits, DEI, and HR technology.
- Foster professional development and skill enhancement of team members, aligning their growth with departmental and organizational objectives.
- Oversee, organize and develop the Administration team (i.e., Executive Assistants, Admin Assistants, Group Coordinators, and Hospitality Coordinators); implement tools and curriculum to establish consistency, efficiency, and connection across all locations.
- Provide guidance to department managers on the legal implications of HR issues, effectively managing employee grievances and disciplinary actions.
Data and Analytics:
- Regularly report on HR metrics to the Chief People Officer, offering insights that inform strategic decision-making and highlight workforce trends and challenges.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI):
- Oversee the Associate Director, offering mentorship and direction on the development and execution of DEI initiatives, including events, training sessions, and goals.
- Collaborate as a strategic advisor with the Associate Director to ensure that DEI programs and curricula align with organizational goals and cultural ethos, and undergo thorough review and refinement before submission for approval by the CPO.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a HR leadership role with a comprehensive understanding of all HR functions as described above.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop HR teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement effective HR strategies and initiatives.
- Superb organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively managing stakeholder relationships, implementing change, and connecting with employees across all locations.
- Deep knowledge of employment law, compliance requirements, and industry regulations.
- Experience with HR technology (especially Ceridian Dayforce) and systems to improve HR workflow and data management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree and relevant HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) a plus.
- Background in private equity or alternative assets preferred.
