A large non-profit organization providing mental and behavioral health services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Director of Nursing Services. This role oversees the Nursing and Related Services Departments, including Nutrition, Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), and Primary Care, within its Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) division. The Senior Director ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while delivering high-quality care to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities residing in residential facilities. The Senior Director of Nursing Services works closely with the organizations nursing leadership team to implement agency-wide and programmatic initiatives, supervise the daily operations of the nursing department, and coordinate medical services. Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, organize, evaluate, and oversee the nursing services department in line with OPWDD, DOH, and other regulatory requirements.
- Develop strategies to ensure continuity and quality of care across nursing and related services.
- Determine and monitor staffing needs, collaborating with HR to recruit and hire nursing staff and related service providers.
- Provide direct supervision to the Director of Nursing and Medical Office Manager.
- Develop and implement in-service training programs for professional development.
- Ensure that medical and nursing care aligns with individualized program plans.
- Plan for resident admissions and discharges while maintaining compliance with care standards.
- Conduct regular reviews and updates of nursing services policies and procedures.
- Oversee the management of medications and medical supplies.
- Collaborate with the Executive Program Director to prepare and adhere to the nursing services budget.
- Collect, analyze, and report clinical outcome data, collaborating with the Quality Improvement (QI) department to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in facility surveys, program committees, and QI activities as needed.
- Serve as a liaison with residents, their families, and support departments to ensure residents' needs are met.
- Be on-call to address crisis calls during overnight and weekend hours.
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted New York State Registered Professional Nurse license.
- Bachelors degree with a minimum of 10 years of clinical and progressive management experience.
- Proven leadership, team-building, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication abilities and a track record of improving operational efficiency.
- Comprehensive knowledge of OPWDD and DOH regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to use clinical data software programs and leverage data insights to inform practices.
- Strategic planning and leadership.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
