The Senior Director, Value Stream is a senior role anchored in the Marketing team reporting into the VP of Marketing. In this role, you are the global steward of one of our currently four business critical services (Mammalian Cell Culture, Microbial, Advanced Therapies and Drug Product/Finished Goods) vital for successful realization of our Partners for Life Strategy and our aspiration to quadruple our revenue by 2030.
You will lead the cross-functional Value Stream team with representation from all key functions, including but not limited to: Finance, Marketing, Communications, Commercial, Operations (sites), Process Development, Global Engineering, Quality (QA/QC/Regulatory), KojoX Strategy, Business Intelligence & Insights, Business Development and Science & Innovation.

You will lead the cross-functional Value Stream team with representation from all key functions, including but not limited to: Finance, Marketing, Communications, Commercial, Operations (sites), Process Development, Global Engineering, Quality (QA/QC/Regulatory), KojoX Strategy, Business Intelligence & Insights, Business Development and Science & Innovation.
In this role, you will be leading the establishment of and delivery on dedicated end-to-end service strategy together with the Value Stream team. You must ensure the involvement, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration and coordination required to drive high performance. The Value Stream Strategy must ensure a strong value proposition differentiating FDB from competition. It shall define the ambition, cater to an actionable KojoX strategy, and set the strategic goals.
As the Senior Director, you are responsible for delivering on the financial MTP/LTP goals, our KojoX strategy and the 2030 Partners for Life strategy. Together with the Value Stream team you ensure that we deliver on and own the value stream of a modality, develop solutions to increase efficiency, and ensure that all customer facing activities align with the overall Value Stream strategy.
In this highly visible role, you will support allocation and management of resources, including budget, personnel and technology to support Strategic Business Services activities through our value proposition. You will have P&L transparency and impact and the ability to have a significant effect using your highly consultative skills without having direct authority.
The successful candidate will focus on continuous improvement, clear direction, cohesiveness, transparency, and alignment ensuring that all actions across the value stream are customer-centric and deliver value to the target audience.
Principal Accountabilities
- Define, deliver and optimize our value proposition with the Marketing and Commercial teams on strategy and tactics. Determine how it will fit into our key account set-ups as a CDMO and how we engage with the biotech industry, and how we will continue to harmonize the Marketing and Commercial functions.
- Operate for unprecedented delivery to ensure we deliver in the business for our Program Management operations.
- Lead for the future on modality and collaborate with our Business Development team on where the Company expands business; perform gap analyses to determine where the Company can become more competitive and how we strengthen our overall business strategy.
- Supporting development and implementation of dedicated marketing and commercial strategies that align with the overall business goals and ensure a robust pipeline that can fill the Value Stream capacity (short, mid, and long term). This includes:
- Competitive value proposition based on our corporate narrative and value messaging targeting the right customer segments.
- Marketing strategy and assessment of competitiveness in the market
- Commercial strategy and go to market strategy based on customer segmentation.
- Ongoing strategic commercial dialogues with key partners and commercial pipeline
- Insight on segmented customer needs as well as actual and potential business synergies or dependencies.
- Creating and maintaining full overview through value stream maps and capacity understanding of operational footprint along S&OP overview to ensure this.
- Driving P/L (Revenue, ROS, PM, EBITDA etc.) transparency and understanding as well as continued financial performance improvement.
- Tracking operational performance to ensure high customer trust and satisfaction.
- Identifying areas for improvement and ensuring that cross-functional Value Stream input and priorities (opportunities, risks, and challenges etc.) are reflected in innovation and business development strategies.
- Ensuring that all marketing as well as commercial efforts are customer-centric and deliver value to the target audience.
Background Requirements and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required in business administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field (preferred). Master’s degree preferred.
- 15+ years of experience with business strategy leadership.
- Proven experience in a role to manage cross-functional teams and drive process improvements.
- Clear understanding of marketing processes and value stream management (product ownership).
- Advanced experience in project management and improvement, including planning, executing, and monitoring projects, is essential. Familiarity with methodologies like Agile or Lean can be particularly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various departments, such as sales, operations, and customer service, to ensure cohesive marketing efforts is also required.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in creating visually compelling presentations using tools like Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strategic thinker with analytical capabilities to gather and synthesize information for decision-making.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Advanced understanding of confidentiality.
- A broad and sufficiently deep end-to-end understanding of the Value Stream (Mammalian Cell Culture, Advanced Therapies, Drug Product/Finished Goods, or Microbial) as well as knowledgeable in the pharmaceutical value chain of our customers
- Strong business acumen

Although this may be a remote posting, the incumbent must reside within a reasonable commuting distance from one of the FDB US locations. The US salary range for this position is $220,000 to $300,000. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a global position that will support all our FDB sites. Benefits will be governed by the location that you are based from and considered your home site.
