Your day to day as a Senior Design Engineer
Join our esteemed engineering team that focuses on designing, developing, and building championship race engines for the global motorsports marketplace. In this pivotal role, you will create base engine components and system designs in support of NASCAR and other engine programs.
- Design and develop new base engine and engine system components (cylinder block/head, valvetrain, cranktrain, cooling, lubrication, fuel, exhaust, and induction systems)
- Design fixturing for engine component fabrication and assembly
- Perform basic engineering hand calculations as part of the design process
- Develop and present design proposals for assigned projects in a Design Review forum
- Select materials, heat treatment, and coatings for engine components
- Work with manufacturing and production groups on Design for Manufacturing and Design for Assembly to ensure the quality, cost, and timing objectives for assigned projects are met
- Work with the simulation department for analysis projects as required
- Work with vendors in a technical partnership to develop new components
- Process prototype parts on in-house 3D printing equipment

What matters most
Knowledge and skills required for the position are:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
- Five to ten years of OEM internal combustion engine design experience
- Knowledge of engine assembly processes and sequencing
- A professional skill level in using PTC Creo CAD software, using engineering and design principles, is required. Experience with PTC Windchill is a plus.
- GD&T experience is required
- Structural FEA w/Ansys and CFD with Star CCM+/Converge experience desired
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, must be able to take design from concept through production
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail
- Prior race engine industry experience a plus
- For ITAR compliance all employees at this location must be US citizens or lawful permanent residents.
