Position Summary:
The Senior Design Construction Manager will be responsible for the delivery of capital projects in support of key regional and system-wide initiatives. This role requires leading a project team, ensuring key deliverables and deadlines are met, and overseeing complex projects. Additionally, the Senior Design Construction Manager will be responsible for managing a complex team of third-party vendors.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership and management to meet assigned goals for construction projects.
- Assist with the review of project reports for accuracy and completeness.
- Lead design and construction manager updates.
- Effectively communicate technical standards to the construction management team.
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
- Develop, review, and maintain project budgets.
- Maintain project as-built cost data.
- Develop and manage RFPs for architectural and general construction services, including review, scoring, participation in interviews, and recommendation for award.
- Facilitate design meetings with architectural and end-user teams, as well as construction (OAC) meetings.
- Lead design meetings with architectural and end-user teams.
- Review design documents for quality, constructability, and ensure compliance with standards and local agency requirements.
- Facilitate the development of infection control procedures with safety and accreditation teams.
- Monitor compliance of procedures during construction.
- Review and approve architectural add services, construction change orders, invoices, and construction pay applications.
- Manage overall preconstruction and construction project milestone schedules.
- Oversee architects and general contractors to ensure timely completion of quality work, adhering to financial stewardship.
- Communicate with project vendors, engineering, clinical teams, safety teams, local jurisdictions, internal project teams, and senior leadership regarding project progress, changes, and impacts.
- Inspect construction progress to ensure conformance to design documents and contractual requirements.
- Participate in furniture selection meetings and oversee procurement and move-in of FF&E.
- Coordinate internal teams such as information services, clinical engineering, accreditation, and physical plant operations as they relate to projects.
- Maintain and archive basic administration files relevant to projects.
- Oversee final construction project move-in and go-live.
- Coordinate moves for internal and external teams, as well as employee relocations.
- Ensure timely completion of the construction punch list by the general contractor.
- Compile external project close-out documents for upload into the data management system.
- Perform duties that promote team success and reflect the organization's mission, philosophy, and core values of respect, compassion, justice, excellence, and stewardship.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in construction management.
- 4+ years of experience in healthcare-specific construction management.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience of both direct reports and/or vendor management, including third-party management.
- Proven experience with land use practices and procedures across a diverse geographic portfolio.
- Extensive experience with analyzing and negotiating financial terms for architectural and construction proposals.
- Driving may be required as part of this role. Caregivers must comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of a driver's license and auto insurance upon request.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, project management, business administration, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
