Job Summary:
Improvix Technologies is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join the Department of Justice (DOJ) Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) team. This position will be responsible for managing, designing, and maintaining complex Oracle and MS SQL Server databases, ensuring their optimal performance, security, and availability. The Senior DBA will also contribute to data modeling, integration, and big data strategies to meet the DEA’s evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, manage, and maintain complex databases, ensuring optimal configuration, access, performance, and scalability.
- Optimize database performance and resolve capacity issues.
- Perform database recovery and backup operations to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Advise users on database access, data conflict resolution, and best practices.
- Develop and implement data modeling strategies and integration solutions.
- Work with both structured and unstructured data, facilitating data migration and integration across multiple platforms.
- Contribute to database design and data warehousing strategies.
- Support research and experimentation efforts through technical support in data analysis, database architecture, and system integration.
- Identify and recommend changes to existing policies and procedures to improve future business expansion.
- Provide recommendations and implement strategies for managing large-scale data sets and databases.
Qualifications:

Experience:
- 5+ years of experience with data analysis, migration tools, data modeling, integration, warehousing, and SQL database design/coding.
- 4+ years of experience providing technical support for research, experimentation, data analysis, and systems technology, including architecture and integration capabilities.
- 3+ years of experience identifying areas where policies/procedures require change or new ones need development.
- 2+ years of experience working with unstructured data across different platforms.

Technical Skills:
- Strong experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server databases.
- Proficiency in database performance optimization, data migration, and backup/recovery techniques.
- Familiarity with big data tools and integration strategies.
- Advanced SQL skills for database management and reporting.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that exceeds the degree requirement.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with additional database technologies and platforms is a plus.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Additional Information:
- Clearance: Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Work Schedule: This is an onsite position in Arlington, VA, requiring 3-4 days per week of physical presence.
