Job Title: Senior Database Administrator

Position Type: 6 Months +
Rate: DOE – C2C
Sr. DBA will work closely with our development team to ensure appropriate practices are adhered to in regards to creating database objects and help drive strategy for database architecture going forward.

Sr. DBA will work closely with our development team to ensure appropriate practices are adhered to in regards to creating database objects and help drive strategy for database architecture going forward.
Responsibilities:
- Take ownership over all aspects of the database environment
- Database maintenance (indexes, statistics, etc.) and recoverability
- Database code review and deployments
- Performance tuning management and architectural recommendations to improve ability to scale
- Interface between engineering developers, end users, and helpdesk/deskside resources to bring application issues related to database infrastructure to resolution
- Perform day to day database functions to support engineering developers such as managing incident management tickets, user permission add/remove, restores
- Work with IT and engineering to help resolve long standing issues
- Infrastructure/Application/Developer Support
- Support administrators in an IT operations group - participate in standard maintenance and patching activities, troubleshoot with cross functional IT personnel to resolve application/infrastructure issues
- Provide reporting support for business metrics
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for your respective areas
- Build strong relationships with the customer and those in peer organizations
- Ensure overall reliability of TalentWise's products and services
- 8+ years of database administration experience with MySQL, Oracle or SQL Server, three of which supporting web based applications
- 5+ years of experience writing complex queries and stored procedures
- 3+ years of experience with VLDBs
- Experience utilizing performance monitoring and management tools
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to quickly become familiar with data flows and relationship in regards to application functionality
- Proven experience troubleshooting common application errors and working
- Strong performance tuning capabilities and experience investigating profiler traces, hardware metrics and query plans
- Technical Lead capabilities for major projects
- Strong decision making skills
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Experience with MySQL 5.5
- An understanding of VMWare's ESX virtualization software
- Experience with SAN technologies and configurations (Meta LUNs, tiered storage, etc.)
- Experience with PHP
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or other technical discipline preferred.
