Senior Data Links/Networking Engineer
Location: Hurlburt Field, FL, and Niceville, FL (Hybrid)

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Links/Networking Engineer to support a critical program within a government defense directorate. This role involves expertise in data links, networking interoperability, and systems integration, particularly within Department of Defense (DoD) contexts. The engineer will collaborate on the design, development, and deployment of subsystems for air-to-air and air-to-ground communications, providing essential support to the mission and project team.
Key Non-Negotiable Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship: Required due to the sensitive nature of the work.
- Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university, along with extensive engineering experience.
- Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree with 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 6 years in systems, flight systems, avionics, software, or testing for the DoD.
- Alternatively, a Master’s Degree in engineering (EE preferred) with 12 years of relevant experience, including at least 6 years in specialty areas.
- Experience Requirements:
Nice-to-Have Skills and Preferred Qualifications:
- Network Architecture and Interoperability Testing: Experience with Air Force Systems Interoperability Testing (AFSIT) and Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) certification processes.
- Professional Engineering Degrees: Other ABET-accredited engineering degrees are acceptable with at least 8 years of experience in specialty task areas.
- Data Link Protocols: Proficiency in J-Series, K-Series, and Variable Message Format (VMF) messaging in line with military standards.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Data Links and Networking Engineering: Support the design, development, integration, and testing of data link subsystems for air-to-air and air-to-ground communications. Conduct work involving data link messaging protocols, adhering to military standards.
- Network Architecture Development: Develop and maintain network architectures, supporting processes necessary for interoperability and certification.
- Systems Integration and Compliance: Provide systems integration support, producing documentation and guidance for flight mechanics, Operational Safety, Suitability, and Effectiveness (OSS&E), and airworthiness certification. Ensure compliance with safety standards and life cycle systems engineering requirements.
- Documentation and Advisory Support: Prepare reports, studies, and other artifacts to document performance requirements, modifications, and system-level integration. Provide advisory assistance to government stakeholders.
Qualifications:

- Experience: Extensive engineering background, with a minimum of 12 years in a relevant functional area, including at least 6 years in specialty areas such as systems, avionics, or software engineering for the DoD.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Security Clearance: Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AFSIT and JITC certification processes.
- Familiarity with advanced data link messaging standards, including J-Series, K-Series, and VMF.
