Senior Corporate Tax Accountant - Sun Communities, Inc.

The Senior Corporate Tax Accountant is responsible for utilizing research skills and applying tax expertise to understand and communicate potential tax issues to the Company. They are also responsible for preparing/reviewing financial and tax information necessary for tax filings, coordinating tax planning and preparing tax accrual workpapers.

JOB DUTIES

• Prepares consolidated corporate workpapers and tax returns for federal, state and local authorities.
• Analyzes and reviews state apportionment data for the preparation of sate and local tax returns.
• Coordinates with and provides data to outside tax consultants and legal counsel related to tax compliance matters.
• Prepares quarterly and annual Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) audit testing calculations and projections.
• Assists with federal and state examinations and reviews schedules in response to information document requests; performs appropriate research in preparation for tax audits.
• Researches and documents federal and state tax compliance issues.
• Evaluates book to tax differences related to fixed assets; utilizes FAS software to compute tax asset depreciation reports.
• Provides suggestions and helps to maintain developmental processes.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Stays abreast of federal and state tax laws, regulations and current developments.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's Degree (Required)
• 4 years experience in public accounting or equivalent industry experience
• 1 year partnership tax experience
• 6 months public accounting work experience with Big-4 or large firm
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities
• Proficient with OneSoure or GoSystem tax preparation softeware
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suites and Adobe Acrobat
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency using Microsoft Excel
