How you'll make an impact:Position Overview: The Senior Consulting Analyst identifies and resolves accounting errors, discrepancies, and issues within the National Accounting Center, NAC. The role will drive customer-focused results at the primary target, followed by a root cause solution of key data and findings. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of transactional and accounting data and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Senior Consulting Analyst works closely with accounting leadership, auditors, and other stakeholders to identify problems and implement effective solutions. This individual will be capable of working parallel to the NAC leadership team and reporting to the head of the NAC.
Key Responsibilities:
- Field key accounting or transactional issues and escalations occurring across the NAC.
- Identify and analyze accounting errors, discrepancies, and irregularities in transactional records.
- Conduct thorough investigations to determine the root causes of accounting issues.
- Collaborate with the accounting team(s) to develop and implement corrective actions and process improvements.
- Review process flows, standard operating procedures, and other accounting documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Reconcile transactional gaps and resolve discrepancies between financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist in preparing transactional accounting reports, including problem.
- Stay updated with accounting regulations, standards, and best practices to ensure compliance.
- Provide guidance and training to accounting staff on proper accounting procedures and practices.
- Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits to address accounting issues and provide necessary documentation.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of accounting fixes, actions taken, and outcomes for future reference.
- Collaborate with mergers and acquisitions to understand, align, and standardize accounting practices in order to meet NAC standards.
About you:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree and 6 years of related experience required.
- Requires broad general accounting knowledge, including FASB and GAAP regulations.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business.
- Ability to research complex issues, and to formulate and develop recommendations to management.
- Project management experience.
- Sarbanes-Oxley experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Deep professional experience in data-driven process improvement; insurance and Six Sigma knowledge preferred.
- Proven experience in accounting, auditing, or data analysis.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.
- Proficient in understanding accounting software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
