M&J Engineering, PC, is seeking a full-time Senior Construction Inspector at our office in North Haven, CT for Facilities-based projects located within the state. This is a great opportunity for potential growth in an entrepreneurial setting within the Architectural, Engineering and Construction Industry!
Responsibilities:- Proper interpretation of contract plans, specifications, special provisions, shop drawings, submittals.
- Observation of work in progress for conformance with contract, Building and Fire Safety Codes, engineering principles, trades standards, and quality assurance.
- Perform materials tests as required per contract for verification of quality assurance.
- Prepare daily inspection reports and progress reports.
- Communication with project engineers, clients, contractors, owners, authorities having jurisdiction, and other stakeholders throughout the course of project.
- Perform materials quantity calculations for materials used, received, or stored onsite.
- Observation and verification of onsite construction safety.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- CCM/CMIT Certification, Building Official or Assistant Building Official Certification, or obtainable within (6) months of employment.
- CTDOT or other Agency experience is desired.
- Familiarity with the CSI Specifications format.
- Relevant Trades experience.
- Considerable knowledge of construction materials, methods, and procedures.
- Field inspection experience in vertical construction, civil, or related engineering discipline.
- Familiarity with CTDOT Form 818 and addendums.
- Experience in SharePoint, ProjectWise, or Compass.
- Familiarity with Design-Bid-Build, Time and Materials, and Design-Build contracts.
- Ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of people with different backgrounds. Engineering, Trades, Construction, and administrative personnel.
Physical Requirements:
- Written, verbal, and data communications.
- Routine ability to drive a motor vehicle to project sites.
- While PPE is required for safety and OSHA guidelines must be adhered to, inspection requires climbing and entering excavations, walking on irregular surfaces, use of a ladder, and exposure to varying heights and weather extremes.
- Ability to remain stationary for periods at a time.
