Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic Senior Communications Manager to join our Marketing and Communications team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing strategic communication initiatives, particularly focusing on media relations. Your creative prowess will be crucial in producing engaging digital and print content that showcases our organization's dual commitment to environmental sustainability and economic prosperity. The ideal candidate will possess outstanding communication skills, a flair for storytelling, meticulous organizational abilities, and a readiness to adapt strategies to the evolving media landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop innovative media strategies to amplify our organization's mission across various platforms, working closely with program and field staff.
Collaborate with our Strategic Giving team and other stakeholders to promote key initiatives and celebrate significant conservation milestones, emphasizing our mission's dual impact on environmental health and economic vitality.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists and editors to increase awareness of our work and expertise in relevant regions and media outlets.
Monitor industry trends in land conservation, clean energy, and climate, devising communication strategies to position our organization at the forefront of public discourse on these issues.
Prepare staff and experts for media engagements and events, providing guidance on messaging and facilitating effective communication with reporters.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in media relations or strategic communications.
Proven track record of crafting compelling communication strategies and securing media opportunities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Proficiency in leveraging social media for news promotion.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in diverse team environments.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Background in conservation or related fields.
Established relationships with media professionals and a knack for building new connections.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Primarily desk work involving prolonged computer usage.
Office-based environment with occasional travel (10-15%) and tight deadlines.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000, with potential for performance-based bonuses.
