About the Job
Senior Commercial Loan Originator (“Originator”) is responsible for originating SBA 504 and conventional owner-user commercial real estate opportunities (fixed rate, long term financing). Primarily focused on lending on warehouse / industrial (40%), office / medical office (15%), self-storage (15%), assisted living (15%), hotel (10%), and special use (5%) in tier 1 and tier 2 markets. We are real estate focused first and will be most flexible on business credit if there is strong sponsorship and good real estate. Originator will originate loans utilizing an established network of brokers, intermediaries, and bankers to generate >$20 Million in annual commercial loan originations.
Responsibilities:
- Managing a multi-state territory
- Work with marketing and sales development to convert new leads and accounts
- Developing campaigns to meet and entertain existing referral sources (25-50% travel)
- Serves as official representative and point of contact in the commercial loan markets where our client participates and lends
- Collects commercial loan requests and financing packages for middle market property investors and small businesses that meet the parameters of our clients credit box
- Stays in contact with network of loan referral sources to monitor ensure consistent deal flow, and track developments in market dynamics
- Utilize a broad array of marketing channels to expand market presence and reach
- Leverages market knowledge and existing professional network to generate high quality leads and develop new relationships
- Screens potential lending opportunities by applying diverse knowledge of commercial credit in order to elevate only quality transaction to Credit Manager for loan underwriting
- Remains involved in every step of loan origination, underwriting, and closing processes in order to ensure strong customer service and smooth operational execution
- Participate in industry events and associations
- Shares market knowledge and disseminates information about industry, trends and capital markets in order to generate new business ideas that lead to attractive investment opportunities
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in commercial real estate sales or lending, with focus in sales, origination and relationship management
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in business, accounting or finance
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to travel 1-2 weeks per month
