SUMMARY
The Journey Level Machinist will be responsible for complex machining operations from engineering prototype projects to parts for mass production while maintaining close tolerances and a high level of quality.
PAY: $25.00 - $35.00/hr
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Working from blueprints, process sheets, sketches, and engineering specifications, determines assignment plan, layout, sequence of operations, and necessary tool adjustments required for operating and programming several types of manual and computerized machine shop equipment.
• Determines material, parts, and equipment required.
• Performs production, prototyping, and/or new product introduction tasks, which may include cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions, conventional and CNC milling, turning, grinding and fixture design.
• Conducts in-process inspection of machined parts against specified tolerances. May communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.
• Performs housekeeping and cleaning up duties upon completion of assigned tasks.
• Other projects and tasks assigned by the Company from time to time.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EXPERIENCE
• Set up, program, and operate CNC Mills
• Set up and operated manual and semi-automated Lathes.
• Set up and operated manual and semi-automated multi axis Milling Machines
• Machined parts per print as required by Industrial/Mechanical Engineers
• Worked in a fast-paced machine shop environment.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Machinist is required.
• Determines and develops approaches to machine assignments and processes.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
• Proven experience as a Machinist and programming CNC machines
• Proficiency in interpreting all details of mechanical drawings.
• Proficiency in use of machine shop tools, fixtures and measuring equipment.
• Highly skilled at performing machining operations using Mills and Lathes
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• Must be able to work a 40-hour work week with capacity for occasional overtime daily and including Saturdays as needed to ensure project schedules are met.
• Experience setting up and operating conventional Mills, Lathes, Drill Presses Sanders, Grinders, and Saws while maintaining close tolerances.
• Experience collaborating with Engineers on prototype models.
• Exceptional knowledge of Mechanic's tools, machines, and shop mathematics
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and written specifications.
• Demonstrated ability to bend, reach, stoop and remain standing for extended periods of time (up to 4 to 6 hours per day).
• Ability to communicate clearly both written and verbally.
EDUCATION
• High School Diploma
• Completion of State certified apprenticeship with a certificate as a journey person machinist or equivalent experience a plus
• AA/AS or BS degree in mechanical engineering or related technology field or equivalent experience a plus
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
• Willingness to work extended hours if or when circumstances require it.
• Punctual and dependable attendance.
• Understands AMADA WELD TECH INC.'s basic philosophy and participates fully in conducting its mission.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILLS
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and technical procedures in English.
• Must have excellent communication skills and ability to read and follow instructions written in English.
