Position Overview:
The CMM Programmer/Quality Engineer is responsible for creating programs for complex parts using PC-DMIS software and develop appropriate in-process manual inspections in compliance with customer specifications, ISO9001:2015, ITAR and our Quality Management System. This position reports to the Quality Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Reliably program and operate the CMM for tight tolerance parts while hitting aggressive production timelines.
Troubleshoot and resolve dimensional issues found during CMM inspection and ensure adherence to specifications and quality standards.
Consistently and reliably own the quality process of assigned jobs. For 1st
piece, in-process and final inspection, this may include collaborating with Manufacturing Engineers, CAM Programmers and/or machinists to develop and optimize an inspection plan.
Provide instruction and training for CMM operators and inspection technicians. This may include designing user-friendly fixtures with minimal room for error (i.e. using jigs) for operator.
Minimum Qualifications
5 -10 years’ experience in CMM programming from 3D models for complex parts using PC-DMIS
3-5 years’ experience in an inspection related role (e.g. CMM operator, quality technician or CNC machinist)
Ability to inspect parts using hand-held devices (e.g. calipers, micrometers, thread gages)
Advanced Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Ability to problem solve dimensional issues and optimize inspection strategy.
Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365 or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Metrology or High School diploma and equivalent work experience
- PC-DMIS programming certifications
- Experience working in the Defense and Space industries
