Senior Civil Engineer - Site Development - Base Salary to 115k/year - South Bend, IN
- Our client is a Growing, Employee Owned, Mid-Size Multi-Discipline Engineering Design Consulting Firm that focuses on government, commercial, educational institutions, and energy projects. This firm has 180 Employees and a stable 75+ year history.
- Currently, they are seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (Civil Engineer III) to join their site development division. The Senior Civil Engineer will provide design and plan production for general civil design on a wide variety of projects which may include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. The Senior Civil Engineer will perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering calculations in support of civil engineering design projects
- Manage projects including client communications, public input and feedback, and internal support
- Perform AutoCAD Civil 3D design/drafting in support of civil engineering design projects
- Performs, trains, and provides guidance for site investigations, survey work, CAD work, and data collection
- Prepares, provides training, provides guidance, and reviews engineering designs and reports which includes design calculations and plan preparation
- Performs, provides training for, and guides quality assurance, ensuring projects get carried out as designed and recommend modifications as needed
- Ability to identify engineering and surveying services needed by the client and the ability to draft proposals and estimate fees
- Coordinate with government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals
- Write and edit construction specifications and engineering reports
- Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications.
- Estimate construction costs
- Conduct periodic visits to construction sites to monitor quality and progress of the work
- Knowledge of financing and funding including public and private sources
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field required
- PE licensure in Indiana
- 10+ years of experience managing site development and land transformation
- 10+ years of experience in A/E/C industry with record of client retention/attraction
- Consistently exercises discretion and judgment in all work tasks
- Ability to plan, schedule work and complete work assignments within established budgets and timelines
- Capable of working with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, surveyors, architects, and technicians
- Broad computer knowledge in particular Microsoft Office products
- Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications such as AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Broad knowledgebase of civil engineering projects rather than a subject matter expert in any one civil engineering area
- 5+ years of experience in developing business preferred but not required
- 5+ years of experience managing direct reports preferred but not required
- PE licensure in Michigan preferred but not required.
- May have responsibility for multiple direct reports
Compensation:
- Base salary to 115k/year
