We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer / Senior Project Manager to join our team. This position is 40 hours per week in our Las Vegas office. This position will work on-site could be remote or hybrid based on the candidate's background and skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Main Function: Responsible for monitoring and overseeing the efficient production of projects, within budget and on time in accordance with current engineering knowledge and practices. The purpose of this position is to assist the Principal Engineer in providing advanced professional, technical, day‐to‐day support, guidance and input to other project team members.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Senior Engineer works with the Principal Engineer to develop design concepts which are incorporated in final product by Staff Designers, Staff Engineers and Project Engineers.
- Responsible for assisting in the supervision of staff and completion of assigned projects.
- Serves as project manager with significant autonomy for project related tasks and as a designated client contact.
- Completes annual performance reviews; writes reports, and budget preparations.
- Prepares and monitors project budgets.
- Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.
- Attends necessary in‐house meetings or calls meetings as needed.
- Prepares design concepts, develops project plans and specifications.
- Conducts design analysis for projects as required.
- Conducts site visits/field investigations as required.
- Oversees preparation of design documents.
- Responsible for successful completion of assigned projects.
- Assigns task(s) to other engineers, interns or technicians.
- Meets/corresponds with clients to obtain direction and provide feedback.
- Communicates with Department Heads regarding job process, status, difficulties, and administrative issues.
- Assists in the coordination of pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects.
- Assists in the preparation of engineering agreements for his/her projects within the department.
- Prepares design computations and quantity estimates.
- Prepares or modifies reports, specifications, plans, construction documents, studies, permits and designs for various projects.
- Develops construction cost estimates for his/her projects.
- Attends client and public meetings—days or nights.
- Handles routine contract administration.
- Responsible for control of work‐in‐process, ensures accurate client billings, and monitors outstanding accounts receivable and collection efforts on his/her projects.
- May direct and/or supervise the work of other engineer's activities on his/her projects.
- Instructs CADD technicians to reduce designs to working drawings.
- May serve as onsite project representative.
- Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
- Responsible for project team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manual.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‐year college or university and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required. Registered professional engineer in the State of Nevada.
- Possess a valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work effectively as a supervisor and as a part of a team.
- Ability to operate a computer and software necessary to support job function, including AutoCAD, HEC RAS, and other engineering programs.
- Working knowledge of word processing applications preferred.
- Ability to provide oral and written directions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Attention to detail required.
- Sound judgment to identify and resolve problems.
