Senior Civil Engineer - Municipal - Judge Group

Location: Mattawan, MI
Salary: $100,000.00 USD Annually - $120,000.00 USD Annually
Description:

Essential Functions:

• Conduct engineering calculations to support civil engineering design projects.
• Manage projects, including client communications, public input, and internal support.
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and drafting in support of civil engineering projects.
• Perform, train, and provide guidance for site investigations, survey work, CAD work, and data collection.
• Prepare, train, guide, and review engineering designs and reports, including design calculations and plan preparation.
• Ensure quality assurance, making sure projects are executed as designed and recommending modifications as needed.
• Identify engineering and surveying services needed by clients and draft proposals and estimate fees.
• Coordinate with government agencies, client staff, and other professionals to obtain design information and approvals.
• Write and edit construction specifications and engineering reports.
• Tabulate bid items and calculate construction bid quantities from plans and specifications.
• Estimate construction costs.
• Conduct periodic visits to construction sites to monitor quality and progress.
• Understand financing and funding, including public and private sources.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers, surveyors, architects, and technicians.
• Broad computer knowledge, particularly with Microsoft Office products.
• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Mentoring capability.
• Broad knowledge of civil engineering projects rather than specialization in one area.

Organizational Relationships:

• Reports to the Manager of Municipal Services.
• May have responsibility for multiple direct reports.

Required Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in construction or civil engineering field.
• Active PE License or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.

Travel:

• Local travel as required.
