Key Responsibilities:
- Act as central design figure on team by designing the layout of grading, street improvements and underground facilities within company design standards, agency processing requirements and client expectations and by performing complex design tasks and solving major design problems.
- Ensure quality of design and implement new ideas through supervision, participation plan reviews and training of junior staff.
- Assist team leader in client/agency interaction. Build lasting relationships and respect with clients.
- Attend meetings and conference calls as appropriate.
Job Overview
- Under the direction of the Manager, help develop the design concept and design standards, coordinate with governmental agencies and act as a design resource for team members.
- Train and coach junior team members contributing to the team's professional growth.
- Prepare cost estimates, develop schedules and coordinate the work of the design team with Manager.
- Prepare technical reports and calculations (hydrology, hydraulics, sewer capacity, earthwork, water demand, etc.).
- Assure work/design is of high quality, cost effective and meets the agency standards.
- Performs complex design tasks and solves major design problems.
- Supervise Interns, Associate Engineers, Designers and Engineers. Render assistance in order to maintain project schedule.
- Coordinate staffing needs with Manager.
- Serves as design resource and leader for the team in absence of Manager.
- Assists Manager with proposal, schedule and “extras” preparation.
- Initiate, implement and promote new ideas and procedures.
- Provide surveyors with staking plans and help resolve construction discrepancies.
- Provide construction support and develop responses to RFI’s.
- Provide subordinate team members with complete information and criteria for completion of work.
- Provide training opportunities which contribute to team members’ professional development.
- Determine plan or report format and complete the necessary documentation for the design package.
- Assist Manager in processing plans for approval.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- 4 yrs+ Design experience in grading and land development
- 3 yrs+ independently solving complex engineering problems within land development.
- EIT certification or obtaining within 1 month. PE Preferred (willing to obtain within 2 years)
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D required.
Salary
90,000 - 120,000 /year
