About the Job
ARA is seeking experienced civil engineers, with emphasis in research related to geotechnical engineering and geotechnical asset management, to work full-time in our Transportation Infrastructure Division in Champaign, IL.

Our engineers are actively involved in all aspects of the profession, which includes problem solving, using subject matter knowledge and innovation to offer quality solutions to our clients, marketing to bring in new business, and writing high-quality proposals.

Senior civil engineers:
- Are expected to perform and lead project work, participate in business development, demonstrate professionalism, and engage in marketing and networking activities at conferences and other industry gatherings.
- Must be working toward becoming subject matter experts with experience conducting research in one or more areas related to geotechnical engineering.
- Must have experience writing and winning proposals in response to RFPs in their area of expertise.
- Must have experience presenting project information at training courses, industry meetings, department meetings, client meetings, etc.
Required skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
- 8+ years of experience related to geotechnical engineering. Graduate/academic research work will be considered, if directly applicable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance as needed for job duties.
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills. Publications in peer-reviewed journals and relevant conference presentations a plus.
- Documented experience of independently leading research projects or research tasks/activities.
