The Senior Civil Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers and construction teams, to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solar energy systems on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead civil engineering design for solar projects, including site layouts, grading, drainage, access roads, foundations, and other civil infrastructure.
- Conduct site assessments and geotechnical studies to inform design decisions for solar power plants.
- Prepare detailed civil engineering drawings and specifications that comply with local, national, and international standards.
- Design site layouts for solar arrays, roadways, and stormwater management systems.
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and environmental engineers to create integrated project designs.
- Perform cost analyses and provide recommendations on material selection and construction methods to optimize designs and budgets.
- Oversee the development of construction documents, including grading plans, site plans, and utilities design.
- Provide support during the construction phase, reviewing contractor submittals, managing schedules, and ensuring quality control.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, offering guidance on civil engineering design and project management.
- Conduct risk assessments, feasibility studies, and due diligence for potential project sites.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations throughout project execution.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to select suitable construction materials and equipment.
- Contribute to project proposals by preparing scopes of work, estimates, and schedules for civil engineering activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is required.
- 7+ years of civil engineering experience, with at least 4 years in the solar or renewable energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, including site design, grading, drainage, and foundation design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other relevant design tools.
- Familiarity with solar energy systems and site design requirements for solar farms, including environmental considerations.
- Proven experience managing civil engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Ability to conduct site evaluations and coordinate geotechnical studies to guide designs.
- Knowledge of civil codes, environmental regulations, and permitting processes for large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory agencies.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget goals.
