Position Title: Senior Checkpoint Firewall Engineer/Job Order 8687
Job Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19102
Duration: thru end of the year with possible extension
Rate: Only w2 and no c2c
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Right now their Single point of failure is on the checkpoint firewall and this is a very critical need (Checkpoint over Juniper and Cisco).
Need to be in a senior (over 8 years in Security, not just as a NW Engineer) role. Checkpoint FW admin background, not just a rule pusher but also extensive hands on exp with Checkpoint dating back to R65. Need to know legacy and newest aspects of Checkpoint (ITSO/SPLAT and current GAIA) interface. Must understand the upgrade path from older to newer versions.
Hands on config and admin of checkpoint absolutely needed, will upgrade HW and SW and be able to do it without help. Must know command lines around firewalls and understand how you can modify it.
Juniper a plus, definitely not required.
Agile working env. As a service provider cannot allow for extensive downtime. SLA's can be very fast in comparison to other companies.
HIGHLY prefer an onsite interview given this a Security role and must be able to evaluate presence with team.
Responsibilities:
This individual will be working in a very agile, high-availability Service Provider environment. This candidate will be responsible for analyzing, conducting risk assessments, configuring, and implementing firewall change requests within group SLAs. Responsibilities will include collaborating with business owners and X1 developers to best secure the network, without unnecessarily impeding development. Daily tasks may include incident response, monitoring, investigation, project implementation, and operational support. This position is onsite at the center city Philadelphia location; telecommuting is not an option.
Provides expert technical advice and counsel to management and mentors to less experienced firewall engineers. Assesses change implementation options, benefits and risks, and determines the most appropriate solution. Team-focused individual who steps in to assist when and where needed.
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training and experience.
Approximately 8-10 years' experience with 2 or more in a senior role.

- Extensive experience managing and maintaining enterprise class Check Point and experience with Juniper Firewalls a plus.
- Strong experience with management and support of Cisco Sourcefire IDS.
- Knowledge of routing, NAT, and TCP/IP networking.
- Expert understanding of risk assessment and delivery of specific technical solutions for change requests.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and analytical abilities including packet capture analysis.
- Technical problem solving across multiple technologies.
- Ability to deal with changing priorities and multi-task several projects.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required.
- Checkpoint Firewalls, includes IPSO/SPLAT/GAIA
- Configuration, installation, and upgrading of Checkpoint firewalls hardware and software
- Configuration and installation of checkpoint management stations
- Juniper Firewalls (Netscreen, SRX)
- IDS (Cisco Sourcefire)
- Vulnerability assessments (Nessus, Qualys, etc.).
- Various versions of Linux/Unix and Microsoft systems.
- RSA SecurID manager
- IPv6
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent training and experience.
Approximately 8-10 years' experience with 2 or more in a senior role.
