JOB DUTIES
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Works under the supervision of the Food Service Manager and Adult Programs Manager.
Ability to manage the senior center kitchen in the absence of the Food Service Manager.
Assists with the preparations of meals in accordance with the State of New Mexico AAA policies and procedures, as well as City of Farmington policies and procedures.
Assists with supervising staff with direction from the Food Service Manager.
Process the Meals on Wheels preparations and packaging for Home Delivery respecting the time frame of the MOW Drivers.
Keep food and temperature logs up to date and other daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Operates a City vehicle to assist with business pertaining to the Senior Center; assists with delivery of food to senior patrons.
Assist with food and supply inventories; Assist with food orders.
Assists with receiving incoming supplies and food supplies, and assists with unloading and re-stocking in assigned areas.
Dates, stores, and rotates left-overs to minimize waste. Assists with utilizing left-over meal product for frozen meal program.
Helps to maintain established standards of sanitation, safety, and food preparation, while following local and state health department requirements.
Cleaning appropriate areas, washing dishes, mopping, and sweeping, cleaning refrigerators, freezers, stove, ovens, bins, cupboards, and other kitchen equipment.
Assists with disposal of trash and food wastes; recycles paper and metal waste daily.
Participates in on-going trainings, staff meetings and planned events.
Assists with training and guiding staff and volunteers.
Utilizes ExecuTime.
Participates in emergency drills and environmental safety activities.
Maintains excellent customer service skills with staff and senior patrons.
Assists with events and programs as needed throughout the senior center campus.
Wear closed-toed shoes and appropriate clothing.
Fills out Accident and Incident reports as needed.
Works a varied schedule which may include weekends and evenings, depending on the events planned for the senior citizens.
Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supervises the Senior Center Kitchen Staff during the hours of occupancy in the absence of the Food Service Manager.
Works other related senior activities within the Senior Center campus or outside, as needed.
Assists with clean-up around Senior Center property, as needed.
May serve on various employee committees, as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program. This includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.
Extensive background checks required.
Valid New Mexico driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.
ANSI certificated Food Manager Certification preferred, may be obtained through City classes after entry into employment within 120 days.
Knowledge of food preparation required.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred, but may be obtained through City classes after entry into employment.
Must possess an understanding and caring attitude toward senior citizens, and must display a willingness to be available to the service of the senior patrons.
Ability to drive vans for pick-ups of senior citizens and supplies.
Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to follow directions and work together as a team player.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other City personnel and the public.
Ability to operate tools and equipment listed.
This position has the responsibility to participate in and comply with the City's Environmental, Health, and Safety Programs.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Dishwasher, stove, steam table, convection oven, proofer, washing machine and dryer, microwave oven, and other kitchen appliances, broom, mop, motor vehicle, and telephone, computer, fax machine, and calculator.
