Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University seeks a highly skilled analyst and communicator to make a significant contribution to growing research, academic, and community engagement initiatives in Jewish education. Housed within GW’s Graduate School of Education and Human Development,
(the Collaborative for Applies Studies in Jewish Education) is part of the Collaboratory: A Center for Jewish Education. The Senior Center Administrator, Research Analysis will help advance CASJE’s mission through the design, oversight, and implementation of new programs related to the development and use of research to improve Jewish education. This is a full-time 12-month position; the maximum salary for this position is $130,000.
This highly visible and experienced position manages outreach, operational, and administrative functions for their portfolio, in addition to serving as a key advisor. This position oversees project completion in accordance with the workplan, including the financial management of project funds for established objectives. This position manages administrative duties operationally, in addition to providing strategic input and will have significant influence regarding policies, practices and procedures within CASJE. This role, in partnership with the Managing Director, works with foundations and community-based organizations to expand sponsored activities, and assists the Managing Director with assessing and evaluating program objectives and execution to ensure a sound basis for long-term program acquisition and processes. This position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of materials relevant to the objectives of programs in their portfolio.
The Senior Center Administrator, Research Analysis will be responsible for managing key initiatives at CASJE. General responsibilities include providing editorial and day-to-day management of the CASJE Research Digest, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data to facilitate informed Jewish educational decision-making; synthesizing and summarizing research-based findings for a variety of professional audiences; facilitating professional learning related to understanding and assessing research and developing implications for practice and policy. The Senior Center Administrator, Research Analysis will play a key communications role for CASJE and will demonstrate exceptional skills in written and oral presentation. Success in this role requires synthesizing and analyzing complex information, communicating complex ideas in accessible and compelling language (oral and written) to non-specialists; working effectively and collaboratively as a member of a team; and the capacity to be nimble and responsive in a fast-paced work environment.
Specific duties include:- Editorial management of the CASJE Research Digest – Key tasks to include: conducting scans for relevant research literature; selecting studies for inclusion; managing a cadre of expert consultants to develop analytic summaries in line with CASJE’s strategic goals and editorial guidelines; reviewing and editing digest copy.
- Professional Learning Programs – The Senior Center Administrator, Research Analysis will engage CASJE Research Digest readers, as well as other Jewish communal leaders and practitioners, through the design and implementation of high quality, engaging, evidence-based learning opportunities. These programs may focus on highlighting research findings relevant to contemporary Jewish education and engagement, as well as the implementation and use of research in practice.
- Research – Support the PI in development and execution of CASJE research projects. Specific contributions may include: supporting IRB applications; drafting literature reviews; conducting qualitative research (focus groups, interviewing, and observational methodologies); coordinating efforts with external research team members; developing research products including reports, briefs, webinars, and infographics.
- Raise CASJE’s visibility – Sharing findings from CASJE research and other relevant studies through conference presentations, public writing and other modalities.
- Develop ongoing relationships with Jewish educational leaders to better understand needs across a wide-sector of the field as relates to research- based knowledge.
- Remain current on emerging research with relevance to Jewish education.
- Be a thought partner in CASJE’s ongoing work and participate in the intellectual leadership of the Collaboratory: A Center for Jewish Education.
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS in a related discipline plus 7 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.

- Earned doctorate in Education, Social Sciences, or a related area is desired
- Demonstrated research skills and capacity for empirical analyses
- Superb verbal and written communication skills
- Aptitude and enthusiasm for working within a team with high expectations for cooperation, collaboration, and accountability
- Knowledge of contemporary Jewish education and American Jewish life/institutional landscape is desired
- Flexibility, ingenuity, creativity, and a willingness to learn and adapt
- Capacity to exercise editorial judgment, self-direction, and independence on multiple projects
- Ability to contribute throughout the life cycle of a research project
- Respect for the wisdom of practice and enthusiasm for sharing research -based knowledge and insights with non-specialists
Hiring Range
$74,232.46 - $144,894.26
