Senior Business Program Manager ( Digital ) - Staples

Our eCommerce team strives to showcase Staples’ value proposition and experience to customers through digital vehicles, including SEO, paid search, display affiliates, paid social media and more. We utilize online merchandising and campaigns executed by both humans and automated tools to convert new and returning website visitors into customers. Our team also ensures that our mobile and desktop websites and apps are easy to use, delivering the digital experience that our customers expect. At the same time, our teams focus on building and executing a strong innovation pipeline for the future. Our Digital Program Management team is more than a traditional program management function. We are a team of passionate, collaborative, agile, inventive, customer-centric, results-oriented problem solvers. This includes responsibility for managing projects end-to-end through the planning, development, execution, and implementation stages. Overall, this role contributes to an organizational function that plays an important role in moving the organization forward by providing large-scale improvements across the business.

What you’ll be doing:

• Delivers multiple business & eCommerce projects/programs medium to large size that are highly complex from planning to minimum realization with full responsibility and accountability for the outcomes; includes organizing and tracking project details and communicating consistently with project stakeholders and personnel.
• Develops, analyzes, and manages all touch points of the project plan including responsibility for scheduling, global resource forecasting, managing project financials, and providing input and justification for costs and budget impact.
• Clearly defining and documenting requirements across teams and using Agile Methodology to ensure the feasibility/ cost to deliver and the value to the customer and business.
• Drives the work for complex and large project teams by recommending or requesting resources to support project demands, communicates a clear vision of project goals and objectives, and provides technical knowledge and input for deliverables worked on by the team
• Ensures approved business cases exist for executive sponsored programs and defining a program's approach, scope, schedule, budget, resources, dependencies, risks, issues, decisions and deliverables of large projects against plan and works through the project team to implement adjustments when issues/risks are identified and require resolution.
• Partners with Product/Engineering/Business for requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposal (RFP) processes from 3rd parties.
• Ensuring third party vendors are aligned to the program approach and can support the timelines and deliverables.
• Responsible for tracking and reporting data driven performance metrics on key metrics (i.e., deliverables, measures of success, financials, duration, benefits) and communicating findings senior/executive management. Facilitates necessary executive governance processes (i.e. SteerCos)
• Owns the project execution plan (i.e., work breakdown structures) and business objectives (e.g. process design/re-design, change management, deployment approach, management and end user readiness), partnering with Engineering and/or Functional teams to translate business plans into tactical action items.
• Participates in formal and informal training to continuously develop technical capabilities and project management skillset
• Applies deep functional knowledge (e.g. business objectives, operating model, cross-functional macro processes, etc.) in Marketing, Engineering, Finance, Merchandising, Pricing, Supply Chain and Digital to ensure the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse project stakeholders such as internal customers, third party vendors, and senior/executive management

What you bring to the table:

• Ability to handle complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
• Extensive knowledge of e-commerce platforms, digital ecosystems, and related technologies (e.g., CMS, ERP, CRM, payment gateways, and API integrations), ensuring seamless operation and optimization.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams within Agile and DevOps environments, driving collaboration between engineering, product management, and operations to deliver scalable solutions.
• Ability to foster teamwork and management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in both oral and written communication, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships.
• Problem-solving, analytical thinking, technical, and technical skills.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field).
• 8+ years of experience in program and project management
• Expert in project life cycle methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, etc.), stakeholder. management, conflict resolution, executive level communication (written, verbal, etc.).
• Experience managing operational, program, and/or project financial budgets.
• Expert in leading project teams and understanding and application of Continuous Improvement methodologies

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or equivalent work experience
• 10+ years of experience in enterprise project planning and coordination and working on projects or programs requiring the integration of cross-functional solutions
• 6+ years of experience using formal business process improvement methodologies
