The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer reviews, analyzes, and creates robust data pipelines, analytical systems, and reporting functions across the organization. The engineer will collaborate with data architects, analysts, and other technical teams to define requirements, optimize ETL processes, and ensure data integrity and availability for business stakeholders. This role is responsible for delivering quality customer service, as well as incorporating and adhering to requirements defined by Select Medical technology standards. Engineers are responsible for providing accurate and timely completion of technical development and support tasks in accordance with Information Systems standards and methodologies
Responsibilities:- Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines from various sources into data warehouses and/or data lakes
- Optimize, monitor, and troubleshoot existing ETL pipelines to ensure accuracy, scalability, timeliness of all processes
- Coordinate with business stakeholders and data analysts to understand data requirements
- Develop ad-hoc reports, upon request, utilizing various report-writing tools in all applications.
- Ensure management awareness of problems that are severe in nature
- Review outstanding issues on a daily basis to assure that troubleshooting and resolutions are current.
- Recognize potential areas where policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion. Submit recommendations as appropriate
- Participate in relevant information-sharing activities.
- Monitor and report on any security violations related to the unwarranted access to corporate data
- Ensure that all problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain awareness of the rapidly changing environment and recommend cost efficient techniques.
- Create, maintain and update disaster recovery procedures when changes in hardware or applications occur.
- Ensure all changes comply with change management policies and procedures
- Ability to rapidly learn new software and business intelligence environments
Required:
- BS or BA or equivalent education and experience.
- 12+ yrs. report development experience.
- 12+ yrs. SQL or other database query language experience.
- 12+ yrs. business intelligence platform experience such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, SSRS, etc.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL pipelines
- Strong proficiency in SQL for querying, data manipulation, and performance turning on large datasets.
- Expertise in data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing
- Knowledge of Python, R, Bash, or other similar languages for automation, custom data processing, and analytics
- Requires superior teamwork skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must; ability to read, write, and speak in a professional manner.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
- Must possess a personal sense of urgency.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and adapt to changing business priorities.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills are required.
- Excellent attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Large scale multi-site IS operations experience.
- PC Hardware and peripheral experience.
- Knowledge of Microsoft productivity applications
- Knowledge of browser-based technology
