DevOps Infrastructure Engineer
Information Technology
The DevOps Infrastructure Engineer is a trusted resource who will work collaboratively with our IT infrastructure and Information Security team to deploy and operate systems, automate and streamline operations and processes, and troubleshoot issues within multiple environments throughout the software development life cycle, from coding and deployment to maintenance and updates.
Responsibilities
- Direct the automation and orchestration of workloads across on-prem and cloud providers for the IT infrastructure team.
- Provide hands-on development and oversight of the software development lifecycle of the automation tools used by the IT infrastructure team.
- Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) systems and methodologies,
- Create automation scripts and declarative templates for provisioning on-prem and cloud resources, implementation of tools and new features.
- Design, develop and implement network, systems, and security monitoring solutions; review implementation of security controls and evaluate effectiveness, make recommendations for improvements.
- Implement applications that employ secure services and compliant code practices.
- Collaborate with information security and engineering team members to develop secure system automation and monitoring systems.
- Implement and maintain source code version control throughout the application life cycle.
- Work with of other IT analysts and software developers to ensure that business needs are met and development follows departmentally-established processes and works as intended.
- Identify manual IT infrastructure processes that can be automated; ensure delivered solutions are safe and secure against cyberthreats.
Qualifications
- BS in computer science, engineering, or other technical discipline; master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience working in a DevOps Engineering or similar software engineering position of comparable complexity and scope. Comparable success and work experience may be considered in lieu of advanced degree requirement.
- Proficient in the application of a wide range of tools and technologies in software development:
- Configuration Management and Deployment (Puppet, Ansible, Chef);
- Source Code Management and Version Control (Git, GitHub, Mercurial, CVS);
- Automation and Testing (Docker, Jenkins);
- Continuous monitoring (Nagios, Prometheus).
- Proficient in scripting languages (Python, Pearl, Ruby on Rails)
- At least 1 year of experience working with Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform); and at least 1 year of Unix or Linux system administration experience.
- Working knowledge of databases, SQL and the application of continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment solutions.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to translate business needs and information security compliance requirements to support the software development lifecycle
- Demonstrated passion for problem solving; strong project management skills and the proven ability to build trust and work well with all levels of management and technical staff are required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to set priorities and work concurrently on multiple tasks and projects.
- Demonstrated ability to establish collaborative working relationships at all contact levels of the Company and to communicate progress/challenges to appropriate personnel effectively.
- Able to communicate effectively with people at varying levels of technical fluency including the ability to explain and document complex technical issues in a way that non-technical people may understand.
- Excellent customer service skills and a high degree of integrity relative to computer security and confidentiality of information required.
- Team player with excellent consulting skills and a fun, but professional presence required.
- Ability to work nights and weekends on an as-needed basis is required.
Salary
100,000 - 120,000 /year
