Primary Functions:
Under the supervision of the Idaho based Regional Bridge Group Leader, this role involves establishing a strong bridge engineering presence for Ardurra in the Utah market while performing detailed design engineering tasks for projects of varying size and complexity with relative autonomy.
As the Utah Bridge Lead, you will:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining effective communication and providing project updates.
- Actively participate in project delivery, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
- Help expand the Northwest Bridge Group’s client base in Utah, aligning efforts with complimentary groups in Idaho and Washington.
This position also involves collaboration with local staff, as well as leveraging national experts and resources to pursue and deliver projects that showcase Ardurra’s strengths.
Key Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer and willingness to register in multiple states where Ardurra works.
- 10+ years engineering experience with the majority being in bridge design and must be able to demonstrate adequate experience through projects worked on.
- Practical experience in the analysis and design of structures utilizing industry standard software, such as OpenBridge Designer (LEAP Bridge Concrete & Steel), FB-MultiPier, and PTC Mathcad.
- Proficient in the production of bridge plans utilizing CAD software, preferably Bentley OpenBridge Designer
- Experience with UDOT, ITD, WSDOT, WYDOT and LHTAC projects a plus.
- Experience in multiple design materials and various construction types is a plus.
- Experience coordinating engineering work and interfacing with other disciplines and clients.
- Ability to mentor junior engineers, and provide input to clients, as needed.
- Positive attitude towards employees and clients and fits company culture.
- Communicates effectively orally and in writing.
- Highly motivated with great personal skills.
- Must be in Salt Lake City or surroundings or can relocate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate marketing efforts with prospective clients within Utah
- Perform structural calculations and analysis on bridge structures including modeling and detailing structural drawings under minimal supervision.
- Work on bridge projects that include steel plate girder, prestress concrete, segmental and cable, box culverts, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
- Select standard bridge engineering/design procedures, develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software, and perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
- Produce designs and contract documents, including reports, specifications, plans and construction documents that are up to industry and company standards.
- Collaborate with teams both internally & externally.
- Review, assign work and/or check design calculations, estimates, and specifications produced by junior engineers and EITs.
- Initiate or support marketing efforts with prospective clients.
- Additional responsibilities based on current needs will be discussed as the dialog progresses.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Occasionally works in outside weather conditions as needed.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate a vehicle.
