Overview
NV5 is seeking an experienced Senior Bridge Engineer with expertise in California bridge design to take a leadership role in delivering complex projects. This role involves managing key project tasks and supporting Engineering Managers to ensure successful project outcomes.
We are looking for a highly motivated professional with a strong track record in overseeing teams of mid- and entry-level engineers and designers. The ideal candidate will have excellent technical proficiency, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both team members and clients.
Responsibilities
- Execute complex assignments related to planning, designing, and preparing construction documents for bridge infrastructure projects.
- Design various structural systems, including retaining walls, sound walls, culverts, underground vaults, and conduit supports.
- Assist Engineering Managers in delivering bridge and retaining wall projects.
- Prepare Preliminary Engineering Reports and Advance Planning Studies.
- Develop Type Selection and/or Strategy Reports.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates.
- Participate in local professional organizations.
- Assist in marketing business opportunities with key clients and develop responses to RFP/RFQs.
- Develop long-term client relationships.
- Assist clients with permitting.
- Interface with multi-disciplinary design teams, including civil site design, environmental, surveying, hydraulics and hydrology, and geotechnical engineering.
- Mentor junior engineers.
- Assist with presentations to governing boards and city councils.
- Work with local and state regulatory agencies for project permitting and funding.
- Travel to project sites and client meetings, with occasional overnight stays if required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an accredited institution (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Proven technical writing and communication skills through technical presentations, papers, and/or committee participation.
- Experience in marketing and proposal preparation is desired.
- Local experience within San Diego, CA, and/or Northern CA, including work with local agencies and/or Caltrans.
- Experience preparing Caltrans and GREENBOOK specifications.
- Experience preparing Engineers Estimates using Caltrans or Local Unit Costs.
- LEED and/or QSD/QSP certification.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
The pay range for this California position is $165,000.00- $200,000 per year. This information is provided per California Senate Bill 1162. .Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
