Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
We are seeking a Senior Biomedical Engineer to contribute to the development of new medical applications and product concepts through modeling, benchtop biomedical experiments, and clinical studies. Programs involve a broad range of technologies including complex laser and optical delivery systems, radiofrequency, and ultrasound devices.
As part of a tightly knit, innovative, and dynamic R&D team, you can see your work come to life as it is manufactured on-site and used in our clinic! Working within a diverse range of engineering disciplines including laser physics, power and digital electronics, mechanics, software, and biomedicine, you will have a direct impact on future Cutera devices and thereby influence the future of dermatology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, set up, and conduct ex-vivo and in-vitro laboratory experiments to support development of new therapies and diagnostics.
- Develop software models to simulate the interaction of optical, radio-frequency, and ultrasound radiation with tissue.
- Partner with university research groups as needed to develop new medical applications.
- Design clinical study protocols and support early-stage clinical trials for new products.
- Develop advanced clinical assessment techniques and equipment to quantify clinical outcomes.
- Write articles for publication in scientific journals and co-author clinical evaluation reports.
- Stay current with developments in academia and industry through literature and conferences.
- Manage and provide experimental data for regulatory submissions.
- Help define project priorities and work aggressively to meet project milestones.
- Communicate status/progress of projects and tasks regularly in clearly summarized reports.
- Travel to support clinical studies and to attend conferences will be necessary.
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Master’s degree is required, with a Ph.D. preferred, in Physics, Physical Chemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
- Must have at least 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Thorough knowledge of concepts related to thermally induced tissue damage, light-tissue interaction, or biomedicine.
- Proficient in data analysis and presentation of complex data to experts and non-experts.
- Proficient in using software for data acquisition and modeling, such as MATLAB, COMSOL, Python, and LabView, or equivalent tools.
- Proficiency in statistical methods for determining sample size, calculating confidence intervals, etc. is required.
- Candidates should demonstrate a sense of urgency in driving projects and a proactive approach to meeting project schedules.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
Additional Information
Cutera expects to reasonably pay in the range listed below for this position based on the city and state listed in the job posting. The actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, and candidate residence if the position is remote or field-based. We reserve the option to pay above this range for exemplary experience or higher education.
Base salary: $130,000 - $160,000
