Position Summary | Asa nationally accredited program with strong educational component in TheUniversity of New Mexico School of Medicine, the Office of the MedicalInvestigator (OMI) investigates any death occurring across the state of NewMexico that is sudden, violent, untimely, unexpected or where a person is founddead and the cause of death is unknown. The OMI, which is a special programwithin the Department of Pathology, determines the cause and manner of death inthese cases, and provides formal death certification. OMIis currently looking for a Senior Autopsy Tech to join our team. Our idealcandidate will be a team player and willing to learn. This person must be ableto work with decedents in a lab setting and follow protocols for sanitation,infection control, and safety. The candidate will be assisting pathologists andsenior techs with collection of evidence and examinations. Our ideal candidatewill have a strong work ethic and be able to follow complex instruction. Minimum Qualifications | High school diploma or GED and successful completion of at least 3 credit hours of college-level coursework related to the duties and responsibilities specified; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.An additional 4 months of directly related experience may be substituted for successful completion of at least 3 credit hours of college-level coursework related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
