Senior Associate, Private Fund Programs and Oversight - Principal Financial Group

About the Job
We’re looking for a Senior Associate to join our Private Market Fund Programs & Oversight team. In this role, you’ll be a point of contact for client and vendor relationships by coordinating on-boarding, as well as working with all areas of our Private Markets teams to provide operational and financial support to portfolio management, underwriting and origination, accounting and finance, as well as operations team members to aid in the management of our private fund’s platform. The professional will help monitor daily activity of investors and investment platforms, streamline and own key business processes, fund compliance metrics,and execute special projects. Additionally, the role may help with compiling quarterly reporting for boards, along with other ad hoc client requests and projects. To be successful, this individual will need to have a strong knowledge of private real estate and alt investments (or a willingness to learn), the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, a desire to problem-solve in collaboration with team members, and an entrepreneurial spirit to facilitate the firm’s expansion of private asset capabilities. The role will also require someone who is self-driven and motivated, intellectually curious, and who understands reporting techniques to enhance the efficiency of business practices. Key responsibilities may include:
- Work with distribution teams with onboarding of new platforms, RIAs, and other partners
- Provide support and coordination with all service providers and vendor processes
- In partnership with CFO and financial reporting team, help complete required client reporting
- Prepare client reporting requests, working with other areas to ensure timely and accurate information is provided
- Streamline business processes and leverage flow of data to create scalability in operations as new funds and products are implemented
- Assist as needed with RFP and diligence responses among various team members while maintaining a repository of frequently requested information from clients and vendors
- Relationship manager of key vendors, managing of agreements, and handle escalations for any issues
- Provide oversight of projects
- Implement efficient processes to enhance information flow, accuracy of data, and coordination between teams
- Partner with finance on key financial information and calculations to help oversee borrowing base and leverage facility relationships
- Work with finance and portfolio managers to help with cash management and quarterly reporting, as needed

Who You Are:- Bachelor's degree required in Business, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or an investment related degree.
- Work experience in the private fund operations space or related experience required, 5+ years of experience
- Knowledge of financial markets and private assets, including general knowledge Real Estate preferred
- Must be collaborative, able to build and maintain strong relationships, manage expectations, attend to details, work independently, multi-task and prioritize effectively
- Self-driven and motivated with a keen sense of curiosity and open-minded thought process
- Sound judgment, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret financial statements, and efficiently and effectively research, compile and analyze financial information and metrics
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, work environment
Work Environments
This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, New York, NY or Chicago, IL). You’ll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
