Job Summary: The Senior Architectural Draftsman will be responsible for creating detailed architectural drawings that meet the requirements of the California Building Code (CBC). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architectural design, with over 6 years of experience in drafting precise and clear plans. The role demands a thorough understanding of the plan check process and the ability to effectively address and clear comments from review authorities. Proficiency in UpCodes and familiarity with other industry-standard tools and software are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed architectural drawings and plans for various projects, ensuring compliance with CBC and other relevant codes.
- Lead the drafting team in preparing, revising, and finalizing design documents.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to gather the necessary information and ensure accuracy in designs.
- Utilize UpCodes to verify that design proposals meet the required codes and standards, and apply knowledge of other industry-standard tools to enhance drafting processes.
- Manage the plan check submission process, effectively addressing and clearing comments from review authorities in a timely manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, construction technologies, and industry trends to ensure the highest quality of drafting service.
- Mentor junior draftsmen, providing guidance and feedback to foster skill development and ensure consistency in quality standards.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 6 years of experience in architectural drafting, with a strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in creating plans that meet CBC code.
- Proficiency in UpCodes and experience with other industry-standard drafting tools and software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp).
- Proven track record of successfully navigating the plan check process and clearing comments efficiently.
- Strong understanding of architectural design principles, construction details, and building systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, engineers, and construction professionals.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Drafting, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification or licensure in architectural drafting or a related field is a plus.
