Position Overview: Senior Appraisal Review Underwriter
As a Senior Appraisal Review Underwriter, you will serve as our resident expert on high-risk appraisals across all loan programs. In this role, you'll be responsible for evaluating complex properties and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. Your insights and expertise will be invaluable in guiding our appraisal review process and providing exceptional support to our team and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews of high-risk appraisal reports and complex properties, ensuring adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with internal teams to address escalated appraisal-related issues and provide expert guidance as needed.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve appraisal processes and mitigate risks, staying abreast of industry updates and best practices.
- Assist in post-close loan reviews and repurchase requests, offering expert opinions on property valuations.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and policies for the Appraisal Department, sharing your knowledge and insights with colleagues.
- Provide training and ongoing support to junior team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Licensed real estate appraiser with 5-10+ years of experience, or a minimum of 10+ years of mortgage-related appraisal experience.
- Expertise in evaluating high-risk appraisals and complex properties.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency in managing workload and meeting deadlines.
- Knowledge of FHA, VA, and other high-risk appraisal products preferred.
- Experience with Encompass and/or FNC software is a plus.
- VA appraisals or SAR certification is a bonus.
Compensation:
$40-$43 per hour
